July 19 - 20

Our friends Kevin & Anie and their kids came from Quebec for a busy weekend of hard work, great swimming and a large fish!

Supermoon weekend (July 11)

The weekend of the super moon we went up with Maddy, Suzanne and Kristen and Tomo the incredible expanding puppy. In between gazing at the super moon,

drinking Kristen's yummy cocktails

and swimming,

we got a heck of a lot of work done.

Tiling! Ikea cabinets assembled! Electrical! Plumbing!

Thank you ladies for a super weekend!

Cabin building update

Hi all,

Just wanted to update you on our progress. We are trying to get as much done as possible before August 30th when we will have a party to celebrate the cabin completion and our 15th anniversary.

So we have 8 weekends to get the cabin completed - or as close as we can. If you are interested in helping we will be going over every weekend and it is quite a delightful time of year to spend there with swimming, disk golf, gardening and of course cabin building.

Projects left to complete:
-Electrical: rough in wire, panel and boxes. Cable to power tower. install outlets and switches.
-Flooring: purchase, ship and install flooring throughout the house.
-Deck-rail: design, purchase and install deck railing
-Tiling: upper bathroom
-Plumbing: install upstairs sink and toilet
-Kitchen: design, purchase and install cabinets and counter-tops

Let us know if you would like to join us.

Fun, progress and hot water!

A lunch with family and friends
I don't see a safety issue here do you?
This is the very first meal cooked on our new indoor stove
Men being silly with the manometer which actually has something to do with propane.

Such a great mix of fun and progress as we begin the finishing work on the cabin. Indoor cooking! Plumbing! Hot water! It's all kind of amazing.

Step by step to the stairs!

The past two weekends have been all about getting ready to do some interior work. Now that all the siding has been done, it' time to get in some of the elements of the interior. First step, the stairs!

Maddy preps the drywall after the very first insulation is put in.

Kevin contemplates the wall before getting started. The idea is to use the space under the stairs for storage.
First stairs go in

several stairs in

All the straight stairs are in! Now to install the curved stairs at the top and the  bottom.

Spring is sprouting up all over and to make the landscape even more lovely to look at our land partner Bill has been making some very cool rock sculptures.

Help Gambier Island

Gambier Island is facing numerous environmental threats at the moment when we are seeing a rebirth of wildlife. Wolves, whales, owls and more, all around us we see evidence of an eco-system on the rebound. But that resurgence is threatened by plans to allow clear-cutting, develop LNG plants, sink warships.
